Sens come crashing down

In the end, this is where it always had to end. The hockey gods must have a sense of humour.

Given the many crushing playoff disappointments the Ottawa Senators have suffered here over the last decade, it’s somehow appropriate that their franchise-record 11-game winning streak will be buried here along with the other ghosts.

A 5-0 defeat, somewhat unexpected given Toronto’s status as a cellar dweller in the Eastern Conference, was what did it.

If the Senators had hit 12 straight, they would have tied the 1965-66 Montreal Canadiens for the longest winning streak by a Canadian team.
