Sens face harsh reality in return

The last time they faced the Blueshirts from New York, the Senators began a streak that saw them allow just three goals in three games.

At Scotiabank Place on Tuesday night, they gave up that many in a little more than two minutes. If one game is any indication, the Winter Olympics certainly cooled off the formerly sizzling Senators.

Their sloppiness helped the Rangers to goals by Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan and Sean Avery during a 122-second span late in the second period and a 4-1 loss — Ottawa’s third in the 17 games since Binghamton callup Mike Brodeur blanked the New Yorkers 2-0 at Madison Square Garden.
