Sens halt losing streak It was the 600th victory in franchise history and it came in their 100th meeting with the Montreal Canadiens.

But for the Senators, the only number that really mattered was the long overdue two points.

Ottawa snapped its five-game losing streak with a strong performance that resulted in a 2-0 whitewashing of the Habs at Bell Centre Tuesday. The victory strengthened the Senators hold on fifth place in the Eastern Conference — two points up on Montreal and Philadelphia.

The Senators host the Flyers at Scotiabank Place Tuesday.

The Senators finally received the goaltending they’ve been praying for, as Brian Elliott was outstanding in making 29 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and fifth of his career.
