Catching up with Fish

Posted on June 26, 2010

Catching up with Fish Mike's been having a busy summer, but we managed to catch up with him and got him to answer some of your questions. Hope you're all having a great summer.

1. Do you speak french?

A -  No I don't speak French but I do understand it a little bit.

2. What's it like being on the road with Carrie?

A - Being on the road with Carrie has been a lot of fun. It's nice to be able to spend time with her and see what her life is like on the road and visit some great cities.

3. Did you watch any of the playoffs this year?

A - I have been following the playoffs a little. I don't normally watch hockey that much, but being on the bus so much I found myself watching quite a few games.

4. Do you have any plans to release a t-shirt with your logo from the website on it?

A -  I have thought about doing a clothing line but haven't found the time to do it yet. Maybe this year.

5. How do you stay in shape at this point of the season?

A - We have a workout program that our trainer gives us which consists of weights, plyometrics, running, biking and lots of other fun stuff. I enjoy doing my workouts outside so I try to do that as much as I can.

6. When do you start thinking of the new season?

A - Right now I am enjoying the summer, but ramping up my training which makes me think about next season and making sure that I am physically ready.

7. When did you realize Christianity would play such a big part of your life?

A - I realized that Christianity would play a big part in my life at a young age, but I didn't really grasp the concept of a true relationship with God 'till I was in my early 20's. Sometimes it takes awhile to find a true and real faith and it took me living through some things to understand it was so real.

8. How do you balance christianity and hockey?

A - I don't feel like I have to balance christianity and hockey. I think being a christian affects every part of your life and it becomes who you are all the time and not just in certain parts of your life. It definitely helps me in my career and gives me perspective on and off the ice.

9. What are your plans for the summer?

A - This summer I have been in Nashville quite a bit and then I plan to spend some time at home in Peterborough. I also have a wedding and honeymoon that I'm obviously looking forward to.

10. Will Carrie be changing her name to Carrie Fisher?

A -  Carrie will be changing her name. Of course she will always be known professionally as Underwood, but she will be changing her name legally

11. How do you like to relax during the offseason?

A -   I like to relax at my cottage in the summer. I like to get out in the boat or just hang out and enjoy the weather. I also try to get away to a beach south for a week every summer.

12. Do you like to golf and are you any good?

A -  I do enjoy golfing. I have played more this year than the last few years. I would say I'm a decent golfer, but would like to be better. This year I have been shooting mostly in the 80's.

13. What other sports do you like to take part in?

A - I like to play basketball at my cottage in the summer. I also like baseball and volleyball, but don't get to play much anymore. I played baseball this summer for the first time in a long long time and had a blast.
