Sens struggle against Leafs, give up 5  It speaks volumes about the Senators that their best player Saturday night might have once again been Pascal Leclaire.

And he let in five goals.

The Senators really took one on the chin, as the Toronto Maple Leafs won 5-1. It could have been much uglier.

Only Jason Spezza, returning from a groin injury, was able to beat Toronto goalie J-S Giguere. Captain Daniel Alfredsson got an assist and is only seven points from 1,000 in his career.

Kris Versteeg, Clarke MacArthur, Phil Kessel, Nikolai Kulemin and Tim Brent scored for the Leafs.

Ottawa was outshot 38-18.

“Coming here and losing to these guys is always a disappointment,” said Leclaire. “It’s a great rivalry and we didn’t come up with a strong enough effort. It’s disappointing, but there are lots of games ahead. We’ve got to forget it and move on.
