With 13 fathers along for what’s become an annual event, the Senators put on an impressive show with power- play goals from Nick Foligno and Daniel Alfredsson, along with an empty-netter from Chris Kelly, in a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. Erik Karlsson had three assists.
Foligno, whose father Mike wasn’t here because he’s an assistant coach in Anaheim, said it was nice to make some dads happy.
“You always want to make your dad proud,” said Foligno. “It’s a good win for our hockey club and for the guys. (After the game) it’s sometimes worse for you to have your dad yelling at you than a coach. Now, we need to keep rolling.”
