It's been a whirlwind year for Mike Fisher and he's looking forward to taking a few moments to sit back and reflect on the year that was.
The Senators will wrap-up for the holidays in Nashville with a game against the Predators on the 23rd and following the game Fisher won't have to go far to celebrate Christmas with family.
Fisher will join his wife, Carrie Underwood, and her family for Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day before flying back to Ottawa to join his family who will be joining he and his bride for a second celebration.
Fisher joked that he might even get the chance to enjoy two turkey dinners.
"I love this time of year," said Fisher. "We don't get to spend too much time with family during the season so I really look forward to spending some time together."
In many ways Nashville has become like a third home for Fisher as Underwood has a home there and the two have created many close friendships.
As a devout christian Fisher is especially looking forward to enjoying Christmas church services.
"I think it's important to remeber what Christmas is about," said Fisher. "I feel very fortunate for what I have and I'm very thankful."
But perhaps more than anything Fisher will enjoy spending time with his wife. Since being married this past summer the two haven't been able to spend long periods of time together due to the rigours of Underwood's tour schedule and Fisher's NHL schedule.
"It will definitely be nice to spend some time together."
Fisher would also like to take the time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best for this holiday season.
