Senators hit rock bottom

Another game. Another goalie. Another string of ugly goals. Another putrid offensive output.

At this point, perhaps the only way Ottawa Senators coach Cory Clouston can salvage his job and stop the bleeding is to strap on the pads, or grab a stick himself to try and score goals.

Something has to give. Or someone has to go. ASAP. And yet there still hasn’t been a word from owner Eugene Melnyk about the current state of the franchise or the future direction of the team.

Friday night’s 7-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens came on the heels of Thursday’s 6-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. That’s a combined score of 13-3 in 24 hours. Those 13 goals against have come on only 58 shots.
