With the Senators facing one of the worst seasons in franchise history a night off was a welcome reprieve.
Senators players, along with their wives and girlfriends, took part in the annual Bell Sens Soiree, with this year's event featuring a Manhattan theme.
The Soiree, the Sens Foundation's biggest fundraiser, was a welcome Saturday night off for the team that has been dealing with so many on-ice struggles of late.
The event allowed fans, who paid the hefty ticket price, to rub elbows with some of their favorite players.
But there was little doubt that Mike Fisher and wife Carrie Underwood were the star attractions at the event, which also highlighted an important milestone for the Sens Foundation who has now raised $1 million in five years for CHEO.
Fisher, with Underwood by his side, spent part of the evening dealing blackjack.
While the evening gave players a chance to escape the rigours of the season, they will be back on the ice Sunday morning in hopes of finding a way to salvage what's left of the season.
