There was a handshake line and a standing ovation. The Nashville Predators raised their sticks as they exited the ice at Bridgestone Arena on Monday.
But unlike the first round of the playoffs, there was a tinge of sadness in this scene. There was no victory song. There were no smiles on the faces of the faithful.
This sight signified the end of the season.
The Vancouver Canucks scored two early goals and held on to beat the Predators 2-1 in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals. Vancouver won the series 4-2 and will play either San Jose or Detroit in the conference final.
