Fisher honoured by Roger's House

Roger's House will always hold a special place in Mike Fisher's heart and tonight the former member of the Ottawa Senators will be recognized for his contributions as Honorary Chairman to the pediatric palliative care centre built five years ago in memory of Roger Neilson, a close friend of Fisher's.

Roger's House has been a sanctuary to many families over the years and it wasn't uncommon to find Fisher visiting some of the home's children in hopes of bringing a smile or a laugh at a time when happiness can be hard to come by.

With Fisher's trade to the Nashville Predators he won't be able to be on hand quite as much and so former teammate and good friend Chris Neil will now take over as Honorary Chairman of Roger's House.

"It will be special," Fisher said of the reception. "I haven't been back to Ottawa since (the trade). It will be an emotional time, I'm sure. Being at Roger's House will be special. I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure it will probably be a little bit tough too, but it's going to be a special night."

Fisher will undoubtedly be missed.
