Without their leading scorer and with their starting goaltender getting a night of much-needed rest, the shorthanded Nashville Predators realized they couldn’t win every game on this West Coast swing.
A deep Kings squad took advantage of Nashville’s injuries and beat the Predators 4-3 late Tuesday night. It was Nashville’s first loss since they entered the Pacific time zone on Nov. 3, and the Predators first defeat since the announcement of goaltender Pekka Rinne’s new contract.
The Predators (7-5-2) were without forward David Legwand, the team’s leading scorer, for most of the game after he suffered an upper-body injury on a hard open-ice hit by Kings forward Dustin Brown. Legwand exited with 13:17 remaining in the first period and never returned. He will not play in today’s game against Anaheim.
