Mike Fisher has always been more than willing to throw his support behind charity and this past month he's proving it for all to see as he takes part in Movember, an initiative that sees men all across the world grow moustaches in support of men's health issues, more specifically prostate cancer.
For the month of November men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
With the visibility the NHL can offer having players like Fisher take part is of great benefit to the cause.
"It's the first time I take part, but a lot more guys are doing it and I thought it would be something fun," said Mike Fisher. "A few of the other guys on the team are doing it as well and so it's pretty funny to see some of them."
The Predators had their team picture taken last week and Fisher admits it will definitely be one of the more interesting ones he's taken part in with so many guys sporting their 'staches.
Prior to this Fisher had never grown a moustache and admits it still takes some time getting used to his reflection, but believes the cause is well worth it.
"I think everyone has been affected by cancer one way or another," said Fisher. "I think the league has done a good job of getting guys on board and helping get the word out."
But rest assured Fisher has his razor at the ready as soon as December 1st comes around.
"It will definitely be off in a hurry," he said with a laugh. "My wife is not too thrilled with the look."
