The Senators have a busy week ahead as they prepare to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday in this season's first installment of the Battle of Ontario. The Senators will then face John Tavares and the New York Islanders for the home opener and on Saturday the Senators play host to the Atlanta Thrashers.
After opening the regular season with a 5-2 loss the Senators are eager to find some scoring and with that in mind Fisher will be moving back to centre on a line with Alexei Kovalev and Nick Foligno.
"I'm looking forward to playing with Nikki," said Fisher. "We played together last season and had some success. Hopefully we can produce right away."
As for moving back to centre after playing on the wing through much of the pre-season and the season opener Fisher said he doesn't have an issue with moving back and forth.
"Once you've played centre I think you can play wing and go back and forth," he said. "Sometimes on the wing you can be a bit more offensive."
Head coach Cory Clouston says Fisher will be counted on throughout the season for his versatility.
"I like him in both places," said Clouston. "He's going to have to be adaptable. He's going to have to step back into the centreman position."
Fisher is looking forward to the busy week ahead as he believes it will help get the team on a roll. With so many home games in the coming weeks Fisher feels the team needs to play as well in order to be strong when they hit the road.
Fisher is also looking forward to playing at home Thursday night.
"The home opener is always fun to play," said Fisher. "The building is full and loud and the fans are excited.
