Predators look solid in Detroit

After all the scraping and clawing the Nashville Predators have needed to do over the past month to get into the fourth spot in the Western Conference, Coach Barry Trotz had a moment of clarity Friday evening.

After Nashville’s 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings in front of a crowd of 20,066 at Joe Louis Arena, Trotz pointed out an important fact.

“It’s in our control right now, plain and simple,” he said.

The victory for Nashville (45-25-8) gives it 98 points, moving the Predators past Detroit (46-26-5) into fourth place in the Western Conference standings by one point. The Predators hadn’t won this season in Detroit.
