Mike Fisher has always had a love of speed and this past weekend he took his passion to a whole new level.
During his time in Ottawa with the Senators Fisher purchased a prize package at an auction and was finally able to put it to good use.
Fisher had purchased a Rusty Wallace racing experience package and last Saturday the 32-year-old took to the Kentucky Raceway to enjoy a once in a lifetime racing event.
"It's probably the coolest thing I've ever done," said Fisher. "Those cars are just phenomenal."
Fisher said the experience was even better as he got to share it with his father, also a racing enthusiast.
"It was definitely great to have him there," said Fisher. "We had so much fun."
Fisher wasn't exactly sure how fast he was going, but he anticipates it was about 150 mph.
"There aren't any spedometers in those cars, but I know I was pretty close to the maximum speed."
Fisher said he was able to take part in the full experience by wearing a headset and talking to the pit crew. He took in 16 laps and said he never stopped smiling the entire time.
"It was such a great time," said Fisher. "I definitely want to do it again."
