For 11 seasons, Detroit forward Pavel Datsyuk has been a prime Predators antagonist as a division rival. His hands, his skating, his defensive presence have found different ways to sink Nashville over than span.
And it was fitting that Datsyuk was the guy who pushed the Red Wings to a 5-2 win over Nashville at Joe Louis Arena Thursday, in the last Central Division game between the two opponents, with a goal and two assists.
"That's what he does, that's why he's a great player," Predators coach Barry Trotz said with a shrug.
