Anyone who knows Mike Fisher knows there's nothing he hates more than missing games due to injury.
A fierce competitor by nature, Fisher has been known to play though injury and while he would have loved to help the Predators down the final stretch of the season he knew it was in his best interest to stay off the ice.
But he couldn't be happier to at least find himself back in the lineup for the final two regular season games.
Fisher had been sidelined with a hand injury and admits it was tough watching from the sidelines.
"It was just a weird injury and I knew it needed rest, but that didn't make it any easier," said Fisher. "I just wanted to be out there helping the guys out."
This was hardly the end the Predators were looking for, as the team had been hopeful for a return to the postseason, but some struggles over the course of the year will see the Predators wrap up the season Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"It's been tough, and we definitely wanted to make the playoffs, but with this being such a short season it was hard to make up ground at times," said Fisher. "I think we have lots to build on though for next year."
For now Fisher will just enjoy being back at the rink and on the ice with his teammates.
