Any player will tell you there are certain games that are a lot easier to get up for and playing your former team is definitely at the top of the list.
Mike Fisher will get that opportunity Saturday night as the Ottawa Senators pay a visit to Nashville.
Since being traded to the Predators in February 2011 Fisher has only had the opportunity to play against his former teammates once, in Ottawa.
"I've been looking forward to this one," admitted Fisher. "You always want to play well against your old team."
Fisher has been on a bit of a hot streak as of late with ten points in his last seven games and would love nothing more than to score against his old team.
While many rosters undergo complete overhauls Fisher still has a number of friends playing for the Senators which makes the match-up that much more exciting.
"It's nice to catch up with some of the guys," said Fisher. "I've kept in touch with some, but it's always nice to see them."
Fisher anticipates a hard fought game as both teams are looking to gain ground in the standings.
The Senators are looking to grab a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, while the Predators need points to move their way up the Western Conference standings.
"They're in the same boat as we are fighting for points," said Fisher. "We're both fighting for points so I think it should be a good game."
Fisher anticipates a great crowd for the game and says both teams should enjoy the atmosphere.
Fisher will get the opportunity to play the Senators a second time this season as the two teams meet in Ottawa March 10.
