Mike Fisher joined an elite group Thursday night in the Predators 5-4 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues.
With a power play goal Fisher hit the 500-point mark of his career. Fisher became the 433rd player in the NHL to mark the milestone. Of the over 6,400 hockey players that have skated in the NHL since 1917, only a small group of individuals have hit the milestone which now includes Fisher.
While the milestone will always be considered impressive, the goal itself could only be considered something of a fluke.
In a strange play, Preds defenseman Roman Josi took a shot at the Blues net which caught a portion of Fisher's arm on the way to the net. The puck then bounced off the end wall before trickling off the back of Blues goaltender Brian Elliott and into the cage.
Fisher added to his totals as he picked up a short-handed goal and an assist.
On a personal note Fisher was proud of the accomplishment, but would have preferred it be a team celebration as well.
"I guess it's nice, but it would have been nice to come on a night where we got it in a win," Fisher said.
