Schneider helps Devils cruise past Predators

A homegrown defense backed by another stellar performance by goaltender Cory Schneider led the New Jersey Devils to a 3-1 victory against the Nashville Predators at Prudential Center on Tuesday.

Defensemen Adam Larsson and Eric Gelinas scored goals in the first period, Mike Cammalleri was credited with an empty-net goal, and Schneider made 33 saves in his NHL-leading 55th start to give the Devils their second straight win. New Jersey (27-27-10) trails the Boston Bruins by seven points for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
